About Martha

As an Artist:

My goal is to create art that people can connect with - work that invites enjoyment, curiosity, conversation, and reflection.

People are drawn to art for countless reasons: the colors, a memory it evokes, a feeling it stirs, or even a personal connection to the artist. There is no single “right” way to experience art, and I embrace that individuality in every piece I create.

I believe art becomes most impactful when it sparks dialogue. I welcome and encourage conversations from all perspectives, as they offer valuable opportunities for me to grow - not only as an artist, but as a person. The creative process continually inspires me, and I am always exploring new ways to expand my skills and understanding.

My work includes both original pieces and professionally reproduced (limited and numbered) prints of my originals. I also create commissioned artwork, collaborating with individuals to bring their ideas to life in a meaningful and personal way. My primary focus has been working with acrylic paints, along with some oil painting, as well as drawing in graphite and colored pencil. I have also explored mixed media, with most of my work being traditionally two-dimensional. Some pieces are available as prints, while others remain one-of-a-kind originals.

If you have questions, ideas, or are interested in a custom piece, I would love to hear from you.

Thanks for stopping by!
And if you do nothing else today, try to make someone smile.
It has a way of coming back to you.

My story:

I grew up in Northfield, MN and graduated with a Visual Arts degree from Brown University. At various points in my life I have lived in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Nebraska, and I currently live in a northern suburb of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

My amazing careers have included running my own swimming lesson business, coaching club and high school swimming, being a full-time Firefighter/EMT, and most recently I taught high school Art for 18 years.

I believe life is full of adventures, even if that means simply getting up in the morning!
