“Awaiting Vinho Verde II”

Although inspired by the same photograph as Awaiting Vinho Verde I, this painting became its own exploration of color and light. Rather than recreating the first painting, I allowed the reflections to evolve naturally as I worked. Cooler blues gave way to warmer violets and pinks, creating a different atmosphere while preserving the quiet anticipation of that afternoon in Portugal.

Painting the same subject a second time reminded me that no painting is ever truly repeated. Even when the composition remains the same, each brushstroke leads the work in its own direction.

The experience also reminded me that painting isn't simply about reproducing what we see. It's about discovering something new each time we look.
