“Fran’s Oil Painting”

This was one of my earliest experiments with oil paint, and I quickly discovered how different it felt from acrylic. I loved the slower pace, the way the colors blended, and the extra time it gave me to work with the paint. Looking back, I'm not entirely sure why I never explored oils more.

The title isn't particularly imaginative, but it does have a fun family story. My cousin Fran already owned a couple of my prints, but she'd been hoping to add a "Martha Original" to her collection. As this painting was nearing completion, she enthusiastically declared that it was going to be her painting. Somehow, Fran's Oil Painting seemed like the only title it could have.
