Not every painting begins with a grand artistic vision.

Sometimes it begins with a palette full of leftover paint.

After finishing a larger painting, I often had acrylic paint left over that I hated to throw away. Paint isn't inexpensive, and tossing perfectly usable color into the trash felt like throwing money away. So I started keeping a stack of small canvases nearby, ready for whatever unexpected idea might emerge.

One day I remembered seeing a painting that suggested the shape of a wine glass without ever showing the glass itself. The flowing paint defined the empty space, and I loved the cleverness of the concept. These little paintings became my own playful interpretation of that idea, each one using whatever colors happened to be left on my palette.

I can't claim the original inspiration, but I can say these little paintings gave leftover paint a much happier ending.
