Sometimes inspiration begins with something we admire.

I first saw a painting online with a similar composition and was immediately drawn to its warmth and sense of light. Rather than recreating it exactly, I wanted to make it my own by dividing the image across three separate canvases. The triptych format allowed me to experiment with the spacing between the panels, discovering how small shifts could subtly change the rhythm and movement of the landscape.

This painting also began with a very personal purpose. I wanted to create a large piece that would complement the colorful quilt my mother made before she passed away. The warmth of the tree, the glowing horizon, and the vibrant colors seemed to belong with the quilt, creating a space that felt joyful, comforting, and full of life.

The final photograph shows the triptych installed in my home, illustrating how the three canvases work together as a single piece while allowing the spacing between them to become part of the composition.

For me, this painting has become less about the tree itself and more about creating a space to pause, breathe, and feel at home. My hope is that, wherever it is eventually displayed, it offers that same sense of peace to others.
