The evening this painting was inspired, my family and I were in Cozumel watching the sun settle over the water after a passing rainstorm. The clouds lingered just long enough to catch the light, filling the sky with warm oranges, soft pinks, and deep purples. Out on the calm water, a single sailboat drifted quietly with its sails lowered, as though the entire world had paused for a moment.

That feeling of stillness stayed with me long after the trip ended. Rather than simply painting a sunset, I wanted to capture the peace of that evening—the kind of moment that asks nothing of you except to stop, breathe, and take it in.

The original painting now belongs to my niece, Sydney, who shared that memorable trip with me. Although the original has found its permanent home, prints are available so that this quiet moment can continue to be shared with others.
